With Christmas just around the corner, get in the festive mood with one of the many festive events going on in and around Aberdare this Winter. Take your pick of Santa's Grottos, Christmas markets and many other Christmas events being held around the towns and villages of Rhondda Cyon Taf. That sounds like the perfect excuse to round up the family and take a trip together in your new or used Ford from Aberdare Ford.
Aberdare's free to attend Christmas event is on 9th December, attractions include; Santa and his reindeer, Christmas market, farm animals, snowboard simulator, face painting, a festive funfair and much more! The event is between 10.30am and 4.30pm and is held in Aberdare Town Centre.
From 24th November until Christmas Eve you can visit Santa's Toy Mine at Rhondda Heritage Park where you can go on a magical underground adventure down Santa's Toy Mine hunting for Santa's hidden cottage. Each child will receive an age appropriate gift from Santa and adults will have a hot drink and mince pie on arrival. Click here for full details and to book online.
Santa has managed to set some time aside in his busy schedule to come and meet children at his grotto at The Royal Mint Experience in Llantrisant, (every weekend in December), children will receive a gift from Santa and a photo to take home. Each day there will be different entertainments and crafts too. Call 0333 241 2223 to book.
Between 4th and 9th December St Elvan's Church in Aberdare are presenting Christmas - The Story, a nativity play mounted by churches of all denominations in the greater Aberdare area, plus you get to meet the star donkey! The show is performed in both English and Welsh, with each performance lasting 20 minutes. Performance times here.
On Sunday 10th December Cyfarthfa Park are hosting a Christmas craft fair where children can make their own collage Christmas wreath, on the same day in the grounds of the park there is a picturesque 2k festive fancy dress fun run in aid of The Stroke Association. Free Santa suits will be provided to all participants over the age of 16 and all runners will receive a medal. Further details here.
There is free parking after 10am in council-owned car parks in Aberdare and Pontypridd throughout December.
