Ford is planning to build a huge fleet of self driving taxis which will pick up people around cities within the next four years.

They are building a “high-volume, fully autonomous” car ready to work commercially by offering a ride-hailing service by 2021, they have said. 

Raj Nair, Ford's chief technical officer has said "Ford has been developing and testing autonomous vehicles for more than 10 years," 

"We have a strategic advantage because of our ability to combine the software and sensing technology with the sophisticated engineering necessary to manufacture high-quality vehicles."

Ford are working with 4 startups to build the fleet, they will also double their Silicon Valley staff.
